In 1984 OVATION released their high-end ULTRA-GP. Less than 400 guitars were made. The guitar never gained in popularity, primarily because it was priced over $400, higher than a GIBSON Les Paul. Over 20 years later the original ULTRA-GP has soared in value in the Vintage Market with prices topping $3,000.

I bought this knowing it would be pretty good. I have purchased many guitars with plans of swapping pickups and paying for a pro setup with a bone nut. My current plan for this axe is to leave it just the way it is. Perfect. Sure, someday it will probably get that bone nut, but the action and intonation are spot on, and the pickups are fantastic. Plus, I don't have to alter the appearance of this gem to get the tones I want. Great harmonics and resonance straight out of the box.
