  1. Great mandola

Really cool mandola. I couldn't find an electric mandola anywhere until I came to Eastwood. Sounds good, feels good, looks good, and playable out of the box after tuning.

  2. Make Some Swamp Music

Posted by Steve Ferzacca on 2nd Oct 2015

This thing screams and sings. With a mini-humbucker in the neck the sound of the swamp is always close by. Play it clean for an interesting sound color that chimes down low. Stomp on some dirt and man this thing really sounds good. Add trem and lord you have just conjured forth acadian paradise. I love this thing this mandola.

  3. Way too much fun

Posted by David Eastwood on 2nd Oct 2015

I can't believe how good this thing sounds, especially with effects. I've had mine for over 3 years, and it still inspires me every time I pick it up. It's good to just noodle on unplugged as well.

I'd give it 5 stars but for a couple of things. The first one I received had very high action, even with the bridge saddles all the way down. It was cheerfully and quickly replaced; the second one is insanely playable, but arrived with a couple of body dings, and the pickup is visibly skewed. I couldn't be bothered with another return - hopefully the quality has gone up a notch.

Also note that ball-end strings of the right gauge are not too easy to come by. I'm using these:

A bit heavier than the originals, but they work just fine.

Now I need the matching baritone :)

  4. Nice!

Considering the price, my expectations were pretty low, but I was pleasantly surprised. The mandola was built really solidly, the action is great, the intonation is spot on, and the tone through an amp and some effects is just amazing! It's one of those rare instruments (in my life, at least) that I can play for a few minutes, put down...and want to pick right back up and play again

  5. My best electric string instrument

Posted by Jimmy Fatfinger on 2nd Oct 2015

My Mandola is my favourite string intrument with unparallelled sustain thanks to the double strings and an incredible humbucker pickup that registers nil feedback and can be played at full volume no matter how high I jack my overdrive and sustain pedals.

A dream to record on. Chorus effects sound marvellous through it.

  6. Astonishing sound

Posted by Paul Hogue on 2nd Oct 2015

Just got my mandola in a couple of days ago. I adore it. The sound is somewhere between a mandolin and a twelve string guitar. For those with mandolin skills, your four-finger chop chord will be a big stretch, but the sound of two and three fingered chords are just astonishing enough. You want long ringing sounds on this thing. Even without reverb, the sustain is remarkable. Still trying pedals on it, but unaffected through my old Champ amp it sounds dreamlike.
