  1. Newport Rocks just like the era she was born.

Posted by John Mullen on 5th Oct 2014

I bought a Newport back in February and am very happy with it. I was looking for a new electric and the write up in Guitar Player is what turned me on to Eastwood. There was no dealer anywhere close to where I live in Ma. so I was flying blind here. I dealt directly with Mike Robinson. He was good. Answered all my concerns about the condition the guitar would arrive in and what we would do if that wasn't the case. So I bought it on a Sunday during a warm spell up here, Monday was a holiday and it shipped on a Tuesday and I received it at work on that Thursday.
The guitar is great. There is no sound running thru a, GK 2000 with a DIGI I can't get close to. Just the guitar plugged straight in, nothing in between is impressive. As I play mostly chords I don't mess around with a setting much once I get the sound I want. In seven months and maybe 7 string changes she has just needed 2 small tweaks on the neck. Do have to tighten down the input nut from time to time but she is still as good as the day I bought her. No intonatoin issues, stays in tune very well even with windmills.

  2. really good vintage sound

Posted by Eugene Thomas on 21st Aug 2014

I bought this guitar because I am old enough to remember Airline (Montgomery Ward) and Silverton (Sears) guitars. Always like the sounds of those vintage axes. I would give it 5 stars except I am not really happy with the sound of the piezo bridge pickup. Otherwise it is a great guitar.
